| Shri Surjit Mehra was my first disciple, he was a true disciple, he served me and the music with great dedication, unmatched respect and eternal composure. His love for the music was sacred, was not inspired from commercialization. When he died, on that day I realized that my soul was gone. His death left a gap in my life and that can’t be filled. I see the mirror image of him in his son, Sunil Mehra, not far away from his father in every aspect. Sunil has started a Music academy in the name of Shri Surjit Mehra, I appreciate this endeavour and assure unconditional support for this noble cause. My blessings are for Sunil Mehra. |

| I was the second student of Shri Puran Shah Koti and Surjit Mehra was first. I got invaluable lessons of life and music from him, but the most important lesson I learnt from him is that how to be a true disciple. He served Guruji with unparalled devotion, in his life he could not earn money as much as a lot of singers earned but he earned that only a few people can earn, that is, unconditional love of the Guru, His knowledge of the music was immense. Sunil Son of Shri Surjit Mehra, has started the music academy to honour his father , I hope that A lot of Surjit Mehra would come out from that academy in order to serve the music and society. I extend my hand to guide the- in this endeavour and wish him all the best. |

| Shri Surjit Mehra was the first disciple of my father Shri Puran Shah Koti, my father had tough times in his life , in that stiff period only Shri Surjit Mehra stood by my father. What Shri Surjit Mehra did for my father that is inexplicable. I got the education of music from my father but how to become a good student, that I learnt from Shri Surjit Mehra. Sunil Mehra, his son , has started a Musical Academy in the name of Shri Surjit Mehra, I and Sunil Mehra worked together for many years ,he has got phenonmenal knowledge of Music and Stage presentation. | I was just a raw singer and never dreamt of making big in life but My Tau Ji, Shri Surjit Mehra polished me and introduced on the stage for the first time. I was impressed by his knowledge of music, dedication and discipline. He was very strict as far as education of music was concerned but very soft in his behaviour. I still recall one of his saying that don't chase the money, chase only music , after some time money will chase you , how true he was. Sunil Mehraji is just like my elder brother for me and I assure him that I would always be with him for the success of the music academy which he has started in the name of Shri Surjit Mehra.
